Report: US sanctions against Russia not to affect oil, gas exports

MOSCOW, Jan 28 (PRIME) -- The U.S. is not currently considering imposing sanctions against Russia affecting oil and gas exports or disconnecting the country from SWIFT, the Wall Street Journal reported on January 28, citing an anonymous source.

According to the newspaper, work on the U.S. sanctions against Russia in case of an escalation of the crisis around Ukraine “is being finalized,” and the U.S. administration has narrowed the list to sanctions against banks, state companies and needed imports.

Although no decision has been made yet, the sanctions list could include restrictions against several major Russian banks, such as VTB, as well as a ban on transactions with Russian government debt and export controls on key sectors, including microelectronics.
